Rules & Regulations
By purchasing a Calendar Lottery ticket in the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, Alberta Chapter (the "Foundation" or "Licensee"), Heart&Stroke Calendar Lottery (the "Lottery"), the purchaser acknowledges to have read, understood, and agreed to these rules and regulations ("Rules"). The first name appearing in the section of the ticket entitled ‘Ticket Holder(s)' will automatically be designated the "Primary Ticket Holder". Each name following the Primary Ticket Holder name will be designated a "Secondary Ticket Holder" ("Primary Ticket Holder" and "Secondary Ticket Holder" are referred to jointly as "Ticket Holders"). All tickets held by all Ticket Holders are subject to these Rules. Only one (1) name can be entered as a Primary Ticket Holder; a second name and a third name (or group name) may also be recorded on the ticket. A maximum of 3 names are allowable on all tickets within a ticket pack. If a giftee is named as the Ticket Holder, no second, third or group name will be allowed on the ticket.
Eligibility: Purchasers, all Ticket Holders and/or group members must be at least 18 years of age at time of ticket purchase. Tickets cannot be purchased or gifted in the name of a minor. Tickets are not tax deductable and must be purchased and delivered within the province of Alberta. Employees and directors of the Foundation, and its agents, and all persons domiciled with any of these individuals, are not eligible to purchase or hold a Lottery ticket. To be eligible, all ticket orders must be paid for and received, or post marked, by the respective prize deadlines.
Tickets: Tickets will be available until December 17, 2013 at midnight, while supplies last. There are 320,000 tickets available. Tickets are $25 each (57,599 tickets available at this price), 3-packs for $70 each (30,187 3-packs for a total of 90,561 tickets) or 6-packs for $125 each (28,640 6-packs for a total of 171,840 tickets). The number of tickets in each price category may change, however the total number of tickets available for sale is 320,000. All ticket numbers will be issued in sequential order. Only one method of payment can be used for multipack purchases. Only tickets that have been verified by the Licensee or its agent as paid are eligible for their respective draws. Ticket(s) will be mailed (minimum of four weeks) to the mailing address provided at the time of order. The Foundation does not take responsibility for orders that are not received by the Foundation on time or at all. Tickets are only refundable prior to December 19, 2013. 6-pack orders will arrive in 2 separate envelopes. It is the responsibility of the purchaser to ensure that they have received their ticket(s) before the draws commence. By purchasing a ticket, each ticket holder (including giftees or group members) consents to the use of their likeness (photograph, if available), first and last name, ticket number, city or town of residence and transcription of the winner notification phone call to be used for publicity purposes by the Foundation. If a winning ticket bears a minor's name, the prize will be lawfully delivered on behalf of the minor to the minor's parent, legal guardian or trustee.
Name Changes: Any requests to change the name of any Ticket Holder, giftee or purchaser must be received prior to December 19, 2013, and must be accompanied by the purchaser's government issued photo ID. Name change requests after the aforementioned date will be declined.
Gifting: The purchaser may gift the ticket to an individual (the giftee), who is at least 18 years of age. Each giftee should receive one ticket and one wall calendar. It is the responsibility of the purchaser to track the allocation of each ticket number. In the case of giftees, cheques will be payable to the giftee (if allocated at the time of purchase) and mailed c/o the purchaser's address. It is the responsibility of the purchaser to allocate winnings as necessary.
Key Deadlines: Final Sales Deadline: December 17, 2013 at midnight. Early Bird Deadline: December 12, 2013 at midnight. Holiday Delivery Deadline: Calendar purchases requiring delivery by December 24, 2013 must be ordered by November 29, 2013.
Prizes: 5,242 cash prizes, with a total value of CDN $2,169,000. All prizes are tax-exempt. There are 365 Daily prizes of $3,000; 52 Weekly prizes of $10,000 (every Friday); 12 Monthly prizes of $20,000 (Month end) and 12 Holiday Jackpot prizes of $12,000. There is one Early Bird prize of $50,000. There are 4,800 cash prizes of $25.
Draws: All draws will occur from January 3rd to 9th, 2014. On January 3, all prizes, with exception of the 4,800 draws of $25, will be drawn from a drum commencing with the Early Bird draw, then proceeding through the prize dates in calendar order. After each winning ticket number is drawn and recorded, it is returned to the drum and eligible for all subsequent draws. Winners will be announced on the respective prize dates, except on holidays and weekends, where they will be posted next business day. On prize dates where multiple prizes are awarded, draw order will be from the lowest value to the most expensive. The drum containing all eligible lottery ticket stubs is spun between each draw. The 4,800 prizes of $25 will be drawn January 6 to 9, 2014. The winning tickets will be returned to the drum after each draw. Winning ticket numbers will be drawn under the supervision of Stride Management Corporation, 3950-12 Street NE, Calgary, Alberta T2E 8H9.
INQUIRIES For all inquiries on the conduct, prizing and procedures of the Lottery, please contact the Foundation prior to purchasing any tickets by calling our customer service line toll free at 1-855-478-4383. The Foundation is only responsible for communicating with the Purchaser and is not responsible for any prize entitlement of any other Ticket Holder(s).
Winners Notification: Starting January 3, 2014, winners will be posted every weekday (except holidays) on the Calendar Lottery website and through social media. 1,000 Cash Back prizes of $25 will be awarded February 5th, 1,000 prizes June 4th, and the remaining 2,800 prizes of $25 will be awarded September 3rd, 2014. For all winner information other than the cash back prizes, call 1-855-478-4384. The purchaser will be notified by phone and writing for all prizes, except the cash back prize winners, who will be notified in writing only. Cheques will be mailed to the purchaser and issued in the name of the ticket holder. Please allow a minimum of 4 weeks from respective prize date for delivery of cheques. All winners have one year from the date of the respective prize date to claim their prize. If a winner cannot be located after this period, the prize will be donated to a charitable beneficiary approved by Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission (AGLC). If a winning ticket has more than one name, the licensee will award the prize to the purchaser. It is the responsibility of the purchaser to allocate winnings for gift and/or group purchases. The Licensee and AGLC are not responsible for resolving any disputes which may arise from the different individuals.
Limitation Of Liability The liability of the Foundation and Stride Management Corporation, to any Purchaser or Ticket Holder is limited to the purchase price of the ticket.
